Helpful Spa Tips

Conseils pour votre spa

Since spa water is generally above 27 degrees Celsius (80°F), its balance is the first essential point you must pay attention to in order to ensure the longevity of your installation.

To maintain the balance of your spa water, the formula differs for each owner depending on the number of bathers, frequency of use, spa location, and other factors. An imbalance can easily occur simply due to a change in temperature or the number of bathers. That's why it's important to have your water tested regularly. Water testing is free at all our Club Piscine Super Fitness stores.

The ideal parameters:

  • pH between 7.2 and 7.6;
  • Total alkalinity between 80 and 150 ppm, preferably at 120 ppm;
  • Hardness of 150 to 280 ppm.
The benefits of good maintenance:

  • Your spa water will be well balanced;
  • You will avoid corrosion of the plumbing, flaking of the shell and equipment;
  • You will avoid skin and/or respiratory irritation;
  • The treatments applied to your water will be more effective.
Other interviews:

  • Clean the shell with a cleaner made for this purpose; this will have the advantage of protecting your shell and keeping its shine.
  • Clean your spa cover inside and out to prevent odors and mold. Also, avoid leaving the cover on the spa for more than two consecutive days.
  • Remove all visible debris.
Little tips:

  • Each bather should rinse off with water before entering the spa. This will remove soap and oil that may be present on their swimsuit, skin, and hair.
  • Before entering the spa, place a basin to rinse your feet, in order to leave sand and other debris outside.
For comfort:

  • Keep the water below 37 degrees Celsius (98.6°F), our body temperature, so you can stay in longer, comfortably.
In winter:

  • Warm your towels and/or bathrobes in the dryer and place them in a cooler that you will bring near the spa. The cooler will keep the towels warm until you leave the spa.
  • Equip yourself with toques to keep your ears warm during the winter.
In summer:

  • A coat rack or hook could prove useful for hanging your towels and/or bathrobes.
  • For shorter individuals, ask in-store about cushions specifically designed for use in spas. This will allow you to fully enjoy all your massage stations.
