Just spent the first summer with this heat pump. Connected to a 20 x 40, large inground pool on a shady lot. Easy install, electrician for power, plumbing myself. Super easy to use, 3 buttons, on, off, temp up/down. We had a warm weekend in May, opened pool and ran it for 30hrs overnight, got it up form 55F to 85F. Kept it at 85-90 all summer, the cost? Hard to determine exactly as this wasn't a regular summer, COVID meant working from home, hydro eliminated time of day electricity cost changes, which worked out well, because the heatpump works more efficiently the warmer the air is. I'd say $100-$200 /month in extra costs, depending on how hot the month was. Closed the pool in early Oct, was still able to keep it a 80F by running the pump for 4-6hrs during mid-day heat. But, reality is, it's not a gas heater, when it's 5C at night, you won't be able to get much heat into the pool. So it will allow you to open early, no problem keeping it at 90F all summer, and seems like you can close at the end of Sept. Unit looks great, it's stylish, nice metal cube, it's not loud, but it's not super quiet, think a mid-priced air conditioner, which really, what a heatpump is. Very happy with the purchase, highly recommend the unit. Location: Greater Toronto Area.
